A folded saree is typically around 35 × 27 cm and 3 cm thick — larger and flatter than most clothing, and often bought in twos and threes for weddings and festivals. The width of the fold is what matters: it needs a carrier at least 30 cm wide. Silk and zari sarees are frequently given as gifts, where a twisted-handle bag in a heavier kraft sets the tone as much as the saree box itself.
