What size mailer or bag for A4 documents?

An A4 sheet is 21 × 29.7 cm, and a stack of up to 50 sheets is only about a centimetre thick — so documents need a mailer that is just wider than A4 and not much more. A ring binder, file or catalogue is thicker, around 3 cm, and that thickness has to come out of the mailer’s width and length. For documents that must not bend, add a card stiffener rather than going up a size.

What to watch for
- Allow at least 2–3 cm on each side of A4 so documents slide in without catching the corners.
- Certificates and photographs need a stiffener board; the mailer size stays the same.
- Catalogues and files for trade shows are better handed out in a flat-handle carrier than a mailer.
